Christmas is around the corner, and so this brought me to scrap and share a layout of a memorable place in a wintry town I’ve been to a couple of years ago!
Le Petit Cochon Dingue‘s a cute patisserie that Jason & I stumbled upon in Ol’ Quebec City back in the Winter of 2010. And it was an awesome place alright. (I mean the shop front was already striking enough) But oh those yummy tarts and quiches….! We definitely had a great time dining at this quaint and cutesy little place. We actually went back a 2nd time just to get more pastries and cakes for supper back at our hotel.
And the idea behind this layout is proudly brought to you by Sketchabilities! Sketch #129 is on going for the next 2 weeks, so its your chance to get some scrapping done with this sketch :) The top 5 viewed layouts will be featured for 2 weeks on the site!
I must say there’s lots of mixed media creativity coming from the Sketchabilities site that I decided to have a go at more daring misting… and a little bit of gesso for texture. Mixed media (maybe just mists in particular) can make a layout seem uncontrolled at times, but there’s this beauty with uncontrollability and “mess” – and soooo i guess sometimes art is really also in gist a beautiful mess. And learning to embrace and work around it really takes skill! Still learning quite a bit of mixed media tricks here and there but I really applaud the many mix media artists skills in making the paints and different mediums and elements work altogether on a page so effectively. :)
